Greater Lewis County Habitat for Humanity helps build new homes in Lewis County. Built mostly with volunteer labor, all homes are built to ensure energy efficiency, high standards of quality and consistency. Habitat families provide “sweat equity”, working alongside our volunteers and staff in home construction. Habitat provides zero-interest mortgages.
Our average home has three bedrooms with approximately 1,200 square feet of living space. Future homeowners are involved in the building of their home and special needs will be taken into consideration. Habitat homeowners are expected to make monthly mortgage and escrow (taxes and insurance) payments.
Greater Lewis County Habitat for Humanity’s minor home repair program helps low-income homeowners who struggle to maintain their homes, allowing them to reclaim their investment with pride and dignity. The program eliminates substandard housing through home improvement projects.
